Arts In Motion
Client:
Strategic Property Partners
Commissioned by Strategic Property Partners and Cass Contemporary, Netherlands-based artists STUDIO ROOSEGAARDE brought its internationally famed ‘Waterlicht’ and ‘Dune’ landscapes to Water Street Tampa.

Designed to deepen the public’s relationship with the cityscape, natural environment and each other, Arts In Motion is the cultural event of the year in Downtown Tampa. Tranportive and ethereal, ‘Waterlicht’ immersed visitors into a luminous underwater world experiencing the power and poetry of water. While ‘Dune’ was a juxtaposition of nature and technology, with an interactive landscape of light activated by human behavior.

The identity was radically simple and emerged by using the events name as a flexible system to shape dynamic connections between image and language establishing a framework for both installations to be celebrated. Representing both vitality and movement, color is used as a defining element drawing inspiration from the respective artworks. Layers of the identity were further created through various expressions from event posters, collateral, publication design, and merchandise, together bringing a holistic experience to the independent installations.

The project stands as a new paradigm for future exploration and thinking at Water Street Tampa, while the identity acts as the canvas for the yearly event to equally share the platform for art, place, and contemporary culture.
